DEEvotional for November 6

Invisible

The orthodontist office is in the round. After you check in, you go to the nearest open spot and take a seat. I had the early appointment and was patiently waiting the Doctor's arrival. In walked a boy about 13 years old. He took the seat next to me. I could tell he was looking me over, no doubt wondering why such an old woman was there. After a few seconds he began to talk to me.

"You have braces?" he asked.

I smiled, nodded and replied, "Yes".

"Whoa." He replied, wide eyed. "Let me see."

I opened my mouth, crinkled up my lips and produced my best smile.

"Where are they?" he said, taking a step closer to me to get a good look.

"They're there."

"I can't see them." He said.

"They are invisible." I tell him. "I just pop them on and off."

"Cool," was his answer. "Can you pop them off so I can see them?"

"Sure." I popped off the bottom set and held them out for his inspection.

"Way cool." Was his response. "They work and you can't even see them."

My invisalign braces resemble the Divine Spirit. They're on, working just like they are supposed to, even when I can't see them, others don't know they are there, and I forget about them.

Why is it we have trouble with the invisible forces that work in our lives?
