Molly's Musings is for the random thoughts in life--some really deep, others very. . . Molly's Musings are meant to get you thinking, laughing or, preferably, both. If you leave this page feeling offended. . .well, you need to open up your mind a little and work on your sense of humor now, don't you? :-)
This Tuesday, February 5th, is Super Tuesday. I hope that all of you get out and vote. I also know that some of you, who are registered as independents, are not allowed to participte in Tuesday's primary elections--a system that I don't think is fair. I totally understand why people register as independents--I don't understand the system that prevents you from voting in the primary.
I've been reading about a number of newspapers, groups, and political figures who have endorsed various candidates. I'm not about to speak for the other contributors to the okclesbian.com web site as I firmly believe we are all entitled to our own opinions. As an individual with no political clout whatsoever, I am going to tell you all that I am voting for Hillary.
I've been following Obama's progress ever since he got elected to the senate as I read the Chicago Tribune on a daily basis. He said as soon as he won his senate seat and people were talking about him running for president, that he wasn't going to do it. I realize that people have the right to change their minds but I really wish in this case, that he hadn't.
History is being made here as we have a woman with a real shot for obtaining the Democratic nomination. I'm in no way a feminist (I consider myself a humanist) but I think it's time for a woman to be president in this country and Hillary is the woman who has the experience for the job. Obama talks about how it's time for a "change" but what better way to have "change" but through the eyes of a woman? Hillary is a strong woman who didn't sit back quietely when she was First Lady--she was a very visible and active First Lady (do we ever hear anything about Laura Bush?) and dare I say it, she was visible and active like Nancy Reagan.
My dream ticket would be Hillary running for president with Obama as her running mate. In my opinion, that would give the Democrats the best chance of maintaining the presidency for the next 16 years (he'll get the experience that he's lacking to be president by being vice president). Yes, I have big dreams but the only way any of it can possibly come true is by getting out there and voting on Tuesday and voting again in November.
Until next time.
