Episode Twelve

rainbow_thinline (2K)

Previously on "The L Word". . .

Tina, Adele and the rest of the movie executives are meeting with a distributor who wants to change the ending of "Lez Girls." They want "Jessie" to get back with her boyfriend at the end to make it more marketable.

Bette and Tina have a discussion about whose house to move into while they are stuck in traffic. Angie is sitting in the back and asks Bette if she's going to honk the horn. Bette says no and then a little later, she honks the horn and calls the driver an asshole. Now it would have been really funny, and so real, to have had Angie say it too:-) Later on at home, Bette asks Tina if Angie should have a baby brother or sister.

Helena is back in town. Her mother, Peggy, is sick, apparently from getting bit by a jelly fish. Peggy talks about dying and the fact that Helena is her sole beneficiary.

Tasha starts a job at Cal-Mart as a security guard. She winds up quitting on the first day. She runs into one of her friends and decides to join the LA PD, which means she'll have to go to the academy. Alice is so "oh well" about anything that Tasha does. Alice goes on a scooter ride with the guest from "The Look." They admit that they are attracted to each other and almost kiss but Alice stops it.

Shane is thinking about going to school for photography. Molly isn't encouraging her about going to school (it struck me that she wanted Shane to stay "uneducated.") They meet Phyllis and Joyce for breakfast and at first, Molly was really rude to Joyce because Joyce made Molly's dad cough up a lot of money in the divorce settlement. Shane tells Molly that all divorces are like that and that she needs to be more accepting of her mother. The talk worked as they had a good breakfast together until Molly tells Phyllis that she's going to turn down her summer internship to spend the summer with Shane.

Dawn is at the Planet redecorating it. Helena stops by and learns from Kit what's going on. She tells Kit that she's not sure about staying on the island with Dusti, that she misses things around there. Later on, Helena tells Peggy what's going on with the Planet and Peggy suggests that Helena buy it. Helena reminds her mother that she doesn't want her to buy her friends and Peggy points out to Helena that they all stuck by her when she didn't have any money, that they're already her friends. She suggests that Helena buy 2 night clubs.

Tina and Jenny have lunch. Tina tells Jenny that Niki misses her--Jenny hasn't returned any of her calls. Jenny's agents have dropped her. Jenny tells Tina that she doesn't want to be with anyone who is afraid to be who they are.

Later on, Adele sees Tina on the set and wants Tina off. She threatens to hold up production if Tina doesn't leave the set. She tells Tina that she can't work with Tina looking over her shoulder and thinks that Tina is doing Jenny's bidding.

Helena goes and talks to Lover Cindy, who gives her some dirt on Dawn. . .

All of the gang except Tina go to Jodi's art show. Phyllis talks to Shane alone and tells her that Shane's not worthy of Molly. She dogs Shane pretty bad and says that her friends even think she's bad news. Jodi's piece is a media piece that is a huge dig at Bette, who is humiliated.

After the show, the gang goes to SheBar and Dawn notices Helena and is interested in knowing who she is. Helena informs Dawn that she is now majority owner of SheBar and Lover Cindy goes off with Helena after telling Dawn off.

Shane flirts with a girl in front of Molly as a way of breaking it off with her. Molly is shocked but tells Shane that she deserves compassion and wishes her luck in figuring things out.

It's the "Lez Girls" wrap party and Adele shows up to it with William. During the party, Adele is on the dance floor kissing one of the actresses and keeps looking over at the gang. Alice tells Shane that she's meet someone else and feels bad about not trying harder to work it out with Tasha. Shane points out to her that she did work at the relationship and that it's okay if she decides that she wants something else. Bette and Tina are out on the dance floor and everyone watches them and comments on how they are made for each other. Shane finds Niki, who is off by herself and they talk. Adele gets major kudos from William and Jenny shows up and interrupts her speech. The crowd cheers for Jenny. During her speech, Niki and Shane start doing the nasty and Jenny asks if Niki is there and mentions how she's madly in love with someone. Jenny finishes her speech and goes and finds Shane and Niki. The rest of the gang leaves the party and Tina learns that the ending of the movie has been changed and flips out. Just then, Niki, Shane and Jenny come into view and Jenny tells Shane that she's broken her heart and that's how Season 5 ends.
