Previously on "The L Word". . .
The girls are back and sadly, Jenny didn't disappear forever in that raft. The show opens up with Jenny rewriting her script and she's working on the part where she first meets Tina, Bette, and Shane and in true Jenny fantasy fashion, Tina, Bette, and Shane are hot after Jenny. I don't know about anyone else but it was enough to make me almost throw up.
Bette and Tina are trying to get Angelica into a preschool and it's pretty competitive. They almost let it out to the preschool administrator that they were divorced because it became obvious to the adminstrator that Angelica knows sign language and the administrator wondered if there was a deaf relative in the family. Tina and Bette decided to pretend that they are still together to help Angelica get into a good preschool.
Helena is in jail for stealing Katherine's money, although she feels that she's entitled to it. Alice tries to get in touch with Helena's mother because Helena's bail has been set really high but her mother isn't returning any phone calls.
Alice and Phyllis do a podcast. Phyllis is now dating Joyce, the lesbian divorce lawyer that Bette and Tina used. During the podcast, Phyllis starts talking about hers and Joyce's sex life (TMI) and tells Alice that sex with her (meaning Alice) was vanilla. Alice is shocked to be hearing those sorts of comments. Phyllis is all about getting to know the lesbian lingo. I don't know about anyone else but seriously, are women just coming out at that age that. . .dorky about it?
Max is now working with Alice on OurChart and during the shooting of the podcast, Phyllis wonders what the "T" is in LGBT. She thinks it stands for "tentative." Alice explains to her that it stands for transgendered and points to Max, who informs them that he decided against have the reassignment surgery. After a bit, Alice says it's time to get back on track, as OurChart is about lesbians and Max took offense, saying that OurChart should be inclusive--which I agree with. I think the show needs to take a harder look at the segregation within the LGBT community.
Shane is making plans on moving in with Paige and is going to look at an apartment with the intentions of signing a lease. Kit makes a comment about how Shane's lost her fire being with Paige. While they are looking at the apartment, the relator tells Shane that she knows a lot of the women that Shane had previously hooked up with. Paige goes off and Shane asks the relator to show her the garage. Paige comes back later with Jerod and walks in on Shane and the relator in the bedroom.
Jenny is back in town and back in the good graces of the movie people because she rewrote the entire script and they just love it and decided that she can direct the movie. She now has an assistant, who she chewed out in front of everyone. The assistant brought her dog, Sounder, to the meeting and Jenny made a huge deal about how the assistant let the groomer put ribbons on that weren't orange. Jenny actually told her assistant that the dog hates her and to replace the ribbons with orange ones so the dog will like her (the assistant) again. Yes, fame is getting to Jenny's head big time and poor Tina is stuck working with her.
There's a scene with Phyllis and Joyce in bed just finishing doing the deed. Joyce just creeps me out and Phyllis--it's a combination that not liking the character and wishing someone else, like Candace Bergen, played the character.
Tina goes over to Jenny's to talk about the script. Tina has made notes in it and Jenny is not about taking any advice from Tina. Jenny tells Tina that Tina is only the executive producer and doesn't know anything about writing. She proceeds to remove all of the sticky notes that Tina put on the script. I hope Tina is getting paid well for having to work with her.
Later, Tina is over at Bette's swimming with Angelica. While Bette goes and puts Angelica down for a nap, Tina unties her swimming suit top and Bette watches. Then Bette starts asking her about Kate, the director who got fired from Jenny's movie. Tina tells Bette that there wasn't anything going on and clearly doesn't want to talk about it. Bette comes right out and asks her what she's doing for sex and mentions that it's been a long time. Tina zings her good by commenting about how it wasn't like she didn't go for months without it when they were together. That had to be one of the greatest zings ever on the show:-)
Alice, Tina, and Shane go and see Helena in jail and Shane is flirting with some of the inmates along the way. Helena is freaking out because she's sharing a cell with someone who she thinks is going to kill her in her sleep. She learns that Alice hasn't been able to get ahold of her mother and she won't tell the others where she hid the money. The girls tell her that they're working on raising the bail and say that they'll visit her every day. Shane tells her to lay low, Tina says that Helena needs to stand up for herself and Alice tells Helena that she needs to find a family and a daddy. All 3 agree that Helena shouldn't drop the soap.
Phyllis and Joyce have a party. Alice and Shane help Tina scout out chicks and tell her to quit looking at Bette, who is waiting for Jodi to come back. Tina spots a gal she thinks is cute and Shane goes over to tell her that her friend is interested but the gal is interested in Shane. Paige shows up at the party and says she can live with Shane being with other women. Shane tells her that she should be with someone who loves only her and then Paige realizes that Shane's not in love with her.
Jenny is at the party with her assistant and wants her assistant to work the next day (Sunday). The assistant tells Jenny that she can't because she has to go to church and Jenny tells her that she can go to church in the afternoon. The assistant tells her that church isn't going on in the afternoon and winds up quitting. Good for her.
Bette surprises Jodi with decorations for her table in her loft. Jodi doesn't like them and tells Bette that she's being a control freak. Okay, that relationship is not going to last--Bette can't do something nice without Jodi thinking that she's being controlling? I think Jodi's being more of a control freak than Bette.
Shane's business burns down and she gets told it's arson. Now the big question--who started it?
Alice is at home watching the news coverage about the war and ther's a knock on her door and Tasha is there. Alice is surprised because Tasha was supposed to have shipped out. . .
Next week: Tasha is under investigation for homosexual conduct. Jodi's interpreter is attracted to Max. Helena is in the middle of some jail violence. Tina dates a gal who sees that Tina still has feelins for Bette.
