Previously on "The L Word". . .
Tina and Jenny try to find a director for Jenny's movie. Of course the entire thing is going straight to Jenny's head, no surprise there. One director envisions something bordering on pornography. Another sees it as a romantic comedy. One director sees it as a musical and Jenny loves the idea. He introduces the dancers and there's Marina, who is obviously with the director.
Bette sees Jodi with another woman on campus. Jodi sees Bette looking over and pulls away. Bette gets introduced and kind of gives Jodi the cold shoulder.
Kit's all hungover. Angus has filled her office with flowers. Papi stops by with more flowers and Kit calls her out on her act (Papi the player). Kit tells Papi that if there's a Papi she'd be attracted to, it would be the softer, non-player Papi that she saw. This gets Papi's attention.
Helena is back from her trip with Katherine and she stops by Alice's bedroom to chat about it (Alice and Tasha are in bed). Helena tells them how her and Katherine won $150K and Alice asks where Helena's share is at and starts in on Helena about the arrangement she has with Katherine. Papi stops over and and Tasha realizes that Papi likes someone. Leonard shows up and joins the bedroom party, where the girls console him about Phyllis. Leonard wants to know what Alice did to Phyllis and says that Alice turned Phyllis into a lesbian. Alice text messages Bette, who lets Phyllis know that Leonard is over at Alice's house. Phyllis goes over and Alice apologizes to Phyllis and they agree to be friends.
Shane's dad shows up and says he wants to take Shay back to Oregon. Shane tries standing up to her dad, threatens to go to court to keep Shay. Her dad points out that Shane has a record and that if he would lose custody, there's no guarantee that the courts would grant Shane custody and points out that Shay might wind up in the foster care system. Shane gives in.
Bette and Jodi are in a meeting on campus and Bette cuts Jodi off during the meeting. Jodi tries to talk to Bette but Bette's still kind of giving her the cold shoulder and so Jodi leaves. Later, Bette goes to Jodi's studio and tries to say that Jodi left in the middle of a conversation. Bette asks Jodi about the other gal and learns that Jodi broke it off with her because all Jodi could keep thinking about was Bette.
Max's coworkers and boss are doing their best to try to make it as uncomfortable for him as possible. Later, Max learns that his mother has died and his sister doesn't want him to come to the funeral. His sister is the only one who knows that he's transitioning and thinks it would be too hard for their father. Grace, the intern, offers to go to the funeral with him.
Angus apologizes to Kit, who is still drinking. He tells her that he is sticking around.
Shane says goodbye to Shay and is totally torn up about it. She goes out wandering around and calls Alice and asks her to come and meet her. They sit around and talk underneath a billboard featuring Shane's underwear ad and Alice pulls out spray paint and they deface the billboard. It was so good to see the two friends together like that and there was even a subtle reference to Dana.
Next time: There are only 3 episodes left and it was announced on the radio the other day that the L Word has been renewed for a 5th season. Helena checks out the horse races. Max goes and visits his family. Jodi tells Bette that she loves her. Jenny decides on a director.
