Katherine tells Helena about a sure thing at the horse track. She suggests that Helena invites her friends, in particular, the "little, dark, twisted one" (meaning Jenny) because she "amuses" Katherine.
Max and Grace go to Max's family's house. Max's sister, Maggie, is supportive of Max but his dad and other sister are not. They both call Max a freak and Max and Grace leave. Later, Max's dad comes to their hotel to give Max his mother's charm bracelet and he invites the both of them to the wake. Before the wake starts, Max and his father are looking at an old car and Max's dad calls him "son." Later during the wake, his father introduces him to the priest as his wife's cousin's son from California but a lady at the wake realizes that Max has changed into a man. Max decides not to go to the funeral for that reason--he doesn't want people focused on him versus his mother's memory.
Bette tells Jodi about the dinner plans--it's gone from a small party where Jodi was going to do the cooking to a part of 11 with a cook and a server. Amy, Jodi's former fling, stops by Jodi's studio and there's a furious exchange of signing as Amy is still pissed off that Jodi dumped her.
Paige and Jerrod stop by Shane's. Shane apologizes to Paige for disappearing and for snapping at her. They all go out for ice cream and Paige tells Shane that she misses her and that she would like to hear more stories--like the one in the car. Shane asks her to go to Bette's dinner party with her.
Tina and Jenny talk to another director. Tina and the director start flirting in front of Jenny and Jenny likes the director's ideas for the movie and picks her to direct it.
Jodi realizes that Bette has control issues when she learns that Bette has a seating chart for the dinner party. Tina stops by and recognizes the "dinner list" and Bette invites Tina and Henry and Tina tells her that she has plans with the director, Kate. Bette asks her if it's a date and Tina says that she wishes and then suggests that she bring her to the dinner party.
Angus tells Kit that he's been working on getting her record promoted in front of Papi. Kit basically gives him the cold shoulder and Papi suggests that Kit give Angus a break and that he made a mistake. Kit's not buying that and tells Papi that she's no longer in love with him.
Kit, Papi, Alice, Tasha, Jenny, Katherine, and Helena all go to the horse track. Tasha tells Alice that she doesn't like the PDA thing in public and later, a private sees Tasha put her hand on Alice's shoulder. Tasha stews about him seeing her.
While at the track, Jenny says that she has a compulsion to take off all of her clothes and Katherine relates. Anyone else think we might have a match made in hell here? Katherine and Helena bet $100K on the "sure thing" and during the race, are in a "private" room, all pressed up against the window, doing the deed for anyone to see. The "sure thing" loses and Helena's out $100K. Alice winds up losing too because Helena was going to invest $50K into the Chart.
Bette is getting anal about the seating arrangement for the dinner party because she wants to make sure tht Jodi can see everyone's mouth and Jodi tells her that she is going to miss stuff and that it's OK. Jodi tells Bette that she loves her.
The guests arrive at the dinner party and Alice asks Shane and Paige how come they didn't come to the horse track. They hem and haw and say that they were telling stories. Bette signs to Jodi that they were f*cking all day. Tina shows up with Kate and Jenny is surprised and I think probably a little pissed off because she's convinced that Tina is straight. Kate starts talking about her movie and Paige asks Shane if she's ever seen it and Shane says no and Paige says it's so pretensious. Bette keeps trying to sign for Jodi and Jodi keeps telling her that she doesn't need an interpreter, that she's having fun, etc.
Anyone else wonder why if Bette was so concerned about making sure that Jodi could see everyone's mouth, why she had Jodi sitting at the head of the table and in poor lighting?
Tina and Kate are flirting with each other and are talking about movie scenes and Bette points out that Tina doesn't like sex scenes. The flirting continues and then Bette announces a toast to Jodi as a way to interrupt the flirting. Then Bette sees Kit drinking and gets upset.
Bette and Jodi fight after the guests leave. Jodi calls Bette out on the control issue and pointed out to Bette how she was trying to control the communication, Tina, and Kit. Bette tells Jodi that she wants to be in a relationship with someone who works with her and Jodi says it's more like Bette wants to be in a relationship with someone who works for her.
Next time: Jodi is leaving campus. Max gets in trouble at work for taking a "vacation" in the middle of a big project. Leonard wants Phyllis back. Kate wants Tina to get rid of Jenny because she's a bad screen writer. Tina tells Bette that she's a control freak but she'd take that over a safe boring man any day of the week.
