Episode Eight

rainbow_thinline (2K)

Previously, on The L Word. . .

Flashback to 7 1/2 months earlier when Dana and Alice are breaking up. I could definitely feel Alice's pain, having been in her shoes before. It's obvious that there is still a lot of passion between the two of them. . .

Kit and Angus are going to the recording studio where some of Kit's old pals are going to help her record her CD. Angus tries to take charge--trying to highlight Kit but it angers Kit, who winds up telling him to back off.

Bette tells Tina that she wants her to move out while she's away at her Buddist retreat and then says for Tina to move into the other bedroom until they get things figured out and that she doesn't want to share a bed with her anymore. Bette gets upset when Tina tells her that she's going to go to the recording studio to be with Kit and the others--Bette says that she no longer has the privileges of being her life partner. When Bette is getting ready to leave for her retreat, the social worker shows up unannounced and Bette and Tina try to act like everything's okay between the two of them, that there's just real minor stuff going on. After Bette leaves, the social worker asks Tina if she's sure about going through with the adoption proceedings and tells her to think about it.

Carmen dreams that Shane gave Cherie the same tattoo that her and Shane have. Carmen gets angry with Shane about it and Shane's in the dog house for a couple of days. They eventually talk and Carmen realizes that she's still hurt over Shane cheating on her.

Dana's hair starts falling out and Alice has wigs ready. Dana doesn't care for any of the wigs and so they go to see Shane at WAX and Shane shaves Dana's head. In support, Shane and Alice show up with Dana at the recording studio sporting funky mohawk-like hair-dos.

Moira sends out an e-mail to all of her friends announcing that she is going to be going by the name Max and that she wants people to use male pronouns when referring to her. Max and Jenny go to the doctor to see about Max getting top surgery. They find out that it will cost $7500 and Max thinks that his insurance will cover it but it won't. Jenny offers to pay and Max refuses and the doctor tells them that many people have fundraisers to raise the cash for the surgery so they decide to do that.

Bette calls Kit at the recording studio to tell her to call Tina and tell her that it's okay that she goes there. She gets pissed when Kit informs her that Tina had just walked in. Bette hangs up.

Dylan and Helena also show up at the recording studio and as they sit on the couch with Tina, Dylan starts holding Helena's hand--which basically sent a bolt of electricity through Helena. Helena eventually gets up to go and get some tea. Dylan follows and asks Tina if she wants some tea. The laugh out loud moment--when Tina replies, "No thanks. I've already had tea." I thought it was funny because of the double meaning:-) Things start getting steamy between Helena and Dylan and they decide to leave and go to Helena's house and things got pretty damn steamy. Dylan tells Helena the next morning that she's going to tell her boyfriend.

Shane and Alice play video games while Dana, who is feeling rather sick, sleeps on the couch. I had to laugh at the swearing at the game that Shane and Alice were doing--having done that myself:-)

Kit and Angus argue some more about the recording process and Kit's old pals start eavesdropping using the studio's equipment. Angus tells Kit that he wants to marry her and she tries dismissing it but then her friends jump in and told her that she was going to let a good guy get away.

Dana and Alice are back at Dana's place and Alice gets a hot bath ready for Dana. Dana winds up calling Alice back into the bathroom because she needs help getting her bra off and winds up showing Alice her chest. In a very touching, brought tears to my eyes way, Alice hugs her and tells her that she's beautiful.

Jenny starts writing a book about Max and the experience that they are going through together. Max gets mad and tells her to delete it and then starts getting kind of physical. The next day, Jenny tells him that he embarrassed her in front of Shane and Carmen and that he scared her.

The whole gang, except for Bette and Tina, go to San Jose in Helena's mother's private jet to a basketball game. It's a surprise for Dana as she is a huge fan of the team. Dana and Max talk a bit before walking into the game and as they walk into the game, Dana gets introduced to the crowd. She tells Max to take her out of there but Max tells her that it's not for her and points to their friends. I think that may be the turning point in Dana's fight--because she's going to start fighting.

Throughout the show, the song that Kit is recording, I believe called, "Transformations" was playing. Very good song and fit in well with the theme of the episode.

Next time: Max gets mad at Jenny for dancing with someone else and is having a hard time with the hormones and what his body is feeling like. Carmen comes out to her family. Helena gets a sexual harrassment suit filed on her by Dylan. Dana has a set back.
