Episode Seven

rainbow_thinline (2K)

Previously, on The L Word. . .

Flashback to 1996 and Bette and Alice are at an opera. Bette gets frisky with Alice and a lady watches through her opera glasses. More on this later. . .

Jenny shoots Moira with hormones. Jenny's excited about what "we're doing" and Moira reminds her that *she* (Moira) is the one doing it. Shane and Carmen find the syringe later and confront Moira about it, thinking that Jenny could be shooting drugs. They are taken aback when Moira informs them that she's starting to transition.

Dana gets her first chemo treatment. During the treatment, Dana starts snapping a bit at Lara and asks Lara why she's still with her. Dana asks her doctor if she's going to die and her doctor tells her that she's got a very good chance of surviving.

Shane and Carmen get matching tattoos on the back of their necks. I think it may have freaked Shane out because later when they were together in bed, Shane got "distracted" when she saw it on Carmen.

Tina is up in Canada visiting a set and almost hooks up with Josh and would have if he would have kept his ignorant mouth shut. As things were steaming up, he opened up his mouth and said that he never thought that she was a queer, that she's too hot for that. Tina got pissed.

Uta and Alice take a stroll around the campus where Uta teaches and Uta thinks that Alice is still in love with Dana. Alice says that she's not and tells her that she got rid of the Dana shrine after Uta released her from her "mortal coils." Uta tells Alice that she needs to properly release and let Dana go (she was referring to the Dana cut-out). This sets Alice on a mission through the garbage dumps trying to find the cut-out.

Dylan visits Helena at her office and starts making the moves on her. Helena says that she's made a promise to herself not to sleep with married people and that "what starts in chaos, ends in chaos" (words to remember, ladies:-) Helena says she doesn't want to be the lie Dylan tells someone and she doesn't want things halfway or at someone else's expense. Helena surprises me and I'm finding myself liking her character more and more.

The gang has a "First Chemo" pool party for Dana at Bette and Tina's house (Tina's not there, of course). Dana snaps at Lara in front of everyone and Alice winds up comforting Lara later and tells her that Dana really needs her. Lara responds by saying that Dana needs Alice. Bette teaches Dana some relaxtion techniques--anyone else wonder if Alice was going to appear in Dana's "happy place?"

The girls talk about "gold stars" and a "gold star" is someone who has never had sex with someone of the opposite sex (learn something new every day:-) Helena thinks that she qualifies as a gold star because she doesn't think that the femme boys she shagged as a youngster should count. Alice tells her that she's a "spoiled star."

During the party, the music from the opera that Alice and Bette went to came on and Bette asks Alice if she remembers it. The laugh out loud moment: Alice responds with, "You mean our 3rd date when you finger-fucked me at the opera before telling me that you didn't think we were right for each other and that there was a straight chick that you might fall in love with? No, I don't remember a thing." Gotta love Alice.

Moira isn't at the party because she's helping Billy set up for the B-52s concert. Moira makes the moves on Billy and they wind up "doing it." Later, Kit catches Billy snorting, what I'm assuming is coke, and freaks out because the door was unlocked and a cop could have walked in. We've basically seen the last of Billy.

Dana and Lara argue and Lara suggests that it might be better for Dana if she leaves. Dana tells her to. Lara tells Dana that she doesn't want to and asks Dana what she wants and Dana insists that she leave. Dana calls Alice, who comes over, and Alice tells Dana that Dana has been showing Lara the door, that she's been a monster to her and that Dana has pushed her too far. She also says that she (Alice) is not going to take Dana's shit. She gets Dana to go to the B-52s concert.

At the concert, we see a fashion first--Bette is wearing her new Buddist meditation blouse that she got in a fight with Tina about. I think it's the first time that an article of clothing has appeared twice. Shane and Carmen tell the others about Moira's transition and Shane doesn't trust what Moira's doing. They start talking about gender reassignment surgery and Carmen opens her mouth without thinking and makes a comment about cutting off tits and that upsets Dana, who leaves.

Next time: Carmen and Shane are having problems. Bette says that Tina is breaking up the family. Dylan and Helena hook up.
