Episode Six

rainbow_thinline (2K)

Previously, on The L Word. . .

The flashback takes place in 1985 and Bette is with the guy who Frank was with in the previous flashback episode. Now the question--just how old is Bette supposed to be? I got the impression in a previous season that she was in her early 30s but if she was in college in 1985, then she's around 40.

Carmen is sleeping on the couch, waiting for Shane to come home. She asks Shane point blank if she was with Cherie and Shane tells her the truth. Shane tried using the excuse that Carmen was flirting wtih some guys while she was deejaying as for the reason why she did it. After some throwing some pizza at Shane and spraying her with a fire extinguisher, while lecturing her on monogamy, Shane tells Carmen that Carmen's the first one that she wants to make a promise to in terms of really trying not to let it happen again. Carmen forgives Shane.

Bette and Tina talk about Tina's interest in men and Tina admits that she's kind of looking at Josh, a movie producer who Bette has heard Tina flirting with on the phone. Bette tells Tina that she thinks she needs to explore these feelings and says that she can't promise that she'll still be there once Tina figures things out.

Alice comes home from a night with Uta and gets rid of the Dana cut-out and proclaims that she's free at last. She thinks she could be one of the "undead" because she got "bit" by Uta.

Jenny's not doing so well as a waitress at The Planet (if I recall correctly, she didn't do too well at her job at the grocery store the first season). A book publisher stops in and Jenny takes a break to talk to her and Billy's bugged by it and is totally rude in interrupting them. Kit comes in and he gripes to her about it and she tells him to let them be. Jenny's book is going to get published as a non-fiction work.

Dylan, the "straight" gal that Helena is after, meets with Helena and Tina to discuss her movie and acts like Helena is a stranger. She informs Helena that nothing like that has ever happened before and that it wasn't going to happen again. In a conversation about going from straight to gay, Tina refers to herself as being straight. Dylan comes back to Helena and they hook up.

Moira talks about getting hormones and Billy tells her that he can hook her up with them without having to go to the doctor. Later, Moira and Billy actually start hooking up and Jenny catches them. Moira tells Jenny that it was the first time someone treated her like a guy.

Angus tells Kit that he loves her and is upset when Kit tries dismissing his feelings. Later at Bette and Tina's house, they are making out like a couple of horny teenagers and Bette and Tina come home. The laugh out loud moment--when Bette is lecturing them on not having sex in front of the baby and Angus quickly agrees and Bette goes, "Kit?" in a parental, admonishing way. Then Bette gets grossed out when she realizes that they've had sex in hers and Tina's bed.

Dana goes to the hospital and Lara is trying to be supportive but Dana has moments of being harsh towards her. After the surgery, the doctor won't tell Lara what's going on with Dana because legally he can only tell her family and asks Lara if she knows how to contact Dana's parents. Lara calls Alice, who calls Dana's parents. Once Dana's parents arrive, they tell Lara that she can go home and actually tell Dana that Lara left. Alice shows up and stands up to Dana's parents and insists that Lara be allowed to go and see Dana (go Alice). It's obvious that Dana still has feelings for Alice when she realizes that Alice has come to see her (heck, it was obvious when she heard that Alice had a date with Uta). They learn that Dana's cancer has spread.

Alice calls the gang and they all meet at the hospital (except Moira wasn't there). Everyone is worried and scared for Dana.

Next time: Dana's home from the hospital and her and Lara are fighting and Lara suggests that she (Lara) leave and Dana tells her to. Alice steps in and Dana starts in on her and Alice says that she's not going to let Dana treat her like shit. Kit and Billy get into it. Tina hooks up with Josh.
