Previously, on The L Word. . .
The flashback shows Frank, Jenny's step-dad, driving around on a religious mission where the message is if homosexuals accept Jesus, it will cure homosexuality. He gets a flat tire and stops at a garage and hooks up with the mechanic. . . Apparently Frank isn't "cured" of his homosexuality.
Dana gets the verdict--she has cancer. She has her choice of having a lumpectomy or a mastectomy and there's talks of reconstructive surgery and if she chooses that, it will take a bit longer to schedule the surgery. She says that she wants it off and wants it off right away.
Bette is in the middle of her Buddist meditation when she hears chimes on the computer. She goes and looks and it's the guy Tina's been cybering with looking for Tina. Bette, at first, thinks he's contacting the wrong person but when he responds with, "Dyke w/baby seeks real man for good fuck," she realizes that Tina has been talking to this guy. Meanwhile at work, Tina is flirting with a male coworker and fails to inform him that she's a lesbian when he asks her about her husband (she's always mentioned it in the past).
Helena and Alice go on a bisexual speed dating thing at the Planet. Helena's not thrilled because she's not bisexual but Alice tells her that she increases her chances if she looks at everyone. Kit gets serenaded by Angus at the event, who plays David Bowie's "Changes" with regards to Kit going through "the change." It's a duet effort with Billy and done rather well, IMO. Helena leaves when she gets a phone call from the "straight" gal whose movie Helena is going to produce. Alice meets, Uta, a vampireologist (sp?) and is intrigued.
Carmen and Shane come home to a mess in the living room made by Jenny and Moira. Carmen gets upset--the place has gotten a lot messier since Moira has moved in. Shane isn't too thrilled when Carmen rants about it.
Bette confronts Tina about her online chatting, which Tina tries denying and then says it's probably when she was doing research.
Lara is trying to be supportive and positive for Dana but Dana's not having any of it. They tell the others (except Tina wasn't there) at the Planet but Dana doesn't say how bad it really is, although Alice and Bette see the look on Lara's face and realize that it's worse than what Dana's making it out to be. The laugh out loud moment: when Bette tells Dana that Tina has had a lumpectomy and that you can barely see the scar and Helena agrees. Bette gives Helena a funny look and then Helena tries to cover with saying that she didn't even know that Tina had had a lumpectomy. I didn't like Helena at all last season but she's really starting to grow on me.
Moira dresses as a guy and goes on a job interview. Okay, this is the computer geek in me but I believe she's mentioned in the past that she was a computer tech--yet the job she interviewed for was a programming position--2 *VERY* different things. And then she says that she's coded and tested in Windows platforms--like Java. Java was developed by Sun--not Microsoft and is not a "Windows platform" in the way that she was using it--but I digress. She gets asked if she's "fish or foul" at the interview and doesn't get the job, despite the guy saying that they don't discriminate. Apparently they discriminate only when a person is still trying to figure it out. She goes home and starts cleaning to "contribute something." Jenny comes home and says that she doesn't have to do that (well, if she makes a mess, who else is going to clean it up?) and then helps her dress as "Max" and they go out.
Cherie, Shane's old married flame, stops in at WAX and tells Shane she's divorced. Carmen's pissed because Shane doesn't act like she's got a girlfriend in front of her and thinks that Shane set up the appointment behind her back.
Bette and Tina have another fight about money and Bette says that she never lorded money over Tina the way that Tina does. Tina says that they didn't have a kid back then but apparently that doesn't stop Tina from getting a $300 (?) haircut.
Alice thinks that Uta is a real vampire and does all sorts of tests that Uta appears to be "passing." In the end, Alice really doesn't care.
Bette finds out that she may have a chance to be a director at a museum in New York. Tina hesitates on committing to move with Bette if she should get the job and says that she likes her life in California and that she probably makes more money than what Bette could make. Tina confesses that she had cyber sex once wtih the guy and that she has feelings about men.
Shane goes to Cherie's and cheats on Carmen. Why, why, why does there always have to be cheating???
Next time: Bette and Tina find out about Kit and Angus. Jenny's book is going to get published. Bette tells Tina that she's not going to wait for Tina to figure things out. Dana's cancer has spread.
