I Am Here
I am here, I am proud, and I stand before you now.
I can’t just disappear, I don’t understand your fear.
I’m your daughter, I’m your son, and I’m not the only one.
I’m your banker, I’m your neighbor, I go to church, I’m not a hater.
I’m your kids teacher at school, they should learn the golden rule,
Learn to treat each other right, differences don’t mean to fight.
I’m an artist, a musician, I’m a person of position,
There’s nothing you can say, to make me change or go away.
I’m a navy fighter pilot, I can work if I keep quiet
I’ll die for you as well, if they don’t ask and I don’t tell.
I’m a cop, I’m a dancer, I’m the doctor cured your cancer.
I have kids the same as you, yes I am a parent too.
Kids need a world that’s safe, not one that teaches them to hate.
This discrimination bites, our families need equal rights.
In June we make a crowd, parade downtown to show we’re proud.
We gather here to say, that you can not vote us away.
You can see and count us now, but you can’t ever count us out.
