10 ways to Reduce Your Cancer Risk

  1. Eat Right. Fruits, vegetables, and limit red meat consumption.
  2. Maintain a healthy weight. Obesity is linked to the following diseases: cancers of the breast, uterus, colon and rectum.
  3. Stop smoking. Can contribute to lung, cervix and bladder cancers.
  4. Avoid secondhand smoke.
  5. Drink only in moderation. No more than 1 drink a day.
  6. Be physically active. 30 minutes of brisk activity a day is suggested.
  7. Stay sun safe. Use sun block.
  8. Have cancer screening as recommended.
  9. Take care with x-rays and hazardous materials.
  10. Decide carefully before starting or continuing hormone replacement therapy.
