Everyone knows that eating right, exercising and getting plenty of rest is a good healthy way to live. But what about energy levels and fighting illnesses?
Studies have shown that a body has an optimal pH level. Remember pH? Most of us learned about it in science classes. It is the concentration of hydrogen ions in a substance: Alkaline versus Acidity.
The normal pH level for the body is roughly 7.4. The foods we eat play a crucial role in maintaining the body's pH level. Most people survive in an acidic pH level. This can make us sick!
What are the foods we should avoid that make our bodies acidic? Sugar, refined carbohydrates, coffee, alcohol, meats and cheese.
What foods help bring our bodies back to an alkaline state? Fresh fruits, vegetables and legumes.
Acidity causes fatigue, lack of energy, the inability to stabilize blood sugar, dry skin, cloudy thinking, water retention and weight gain, thyroid problems, food cravings and cancer.
Other causes: stress, medication and going long periods of time without eating.
80% of our daily dietary intake should come from alkaline foods. Not easy to do. Some nutritionists suggest a daily dietary supplement that includes B12 and amino acids.
